A Complete Picture of Your Child's Growth—Built Around Precision, Not Guesswork.
Some children fall off their growth curve for no obvious reason. Some enter puberty years ahead of their peers, or years behind. Some parents are told "there's plenty of time to grow" — and told again, and again, while a treatable cause goes unaddressed.
Dr. Toni Kim founded LIFE Pediatric Endocrinology on a simple conviction: growth and puberty problems are rarely one-dimensional, and treating them that way misses the real answer.
With nearly two decades in pediatric endocrinology, Dr. Kim specializes in growth and puberty disorders — combining precise, medication-based treatment (growth hormone therapy, aromatase inhibitors, GnRH analogs) with an integrative view of the nutrition, sleep, environmental exposures, and hormonal biology that shape how a child grows. Rather than treating a short growth curve or an early puberty sign as an isolated event, she builds a complete picture, specific to each child.
That philosophy is the reason LIFE Pediatric Endocrinology exists.

Where Dr. Kim Sees Patients
Because most care at LIFE happens through telemedicine, Dr. Kim is accessible to families nationwide — not just those near a physical office. She holds in-person hours at LIFE's Sandy Springs, Georgia location, and sees families in person and by telemedicine across LIFE's growing network, including:
- Georgia — Atlanta · map
- Texas — Austin, Houston, Dallas
- Tennessee — Nashville / Brentwood · map
- Florida — Miami
- California — Los Angeles / Beverly Hills · map, Newport Beach · map, Atherton
Dr. Kim also holds individual telemedicine licensure in a broader footprint of roughly 17 states, including New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts — reflecting the years she spent practicing and teaching in the New York area before relocating to Atlanta. Appointment availability and format (in-person or telemedicine) vary by location — see LIFE's full list of offices for addresses and directions.
Why Families Choose Dr. Kim
Families don't usually come to a pediatric endocrinologist after one appointment's worth of concern. More often, they've been watching a growth chart, or a puberty timeline, that doesn't look quite right — and they've been told to wait.
Dr. Kim has spent nearly 20 years learning that "wait and see" is sometimes right, and sometimes exactly the wrong advice. A bone age delayed by a year can be entirely normal. The same delay at two years or more can signal a growth hormone deficiency that won't resolve on its own. Knowing the difference — and testing for it rather than assuming — is the foundation of how she practices.
She is known among her patients for being personally accessible: families reach her by call, text, or email, and many have followed her across multiple states over the course of her career, from New York to Georgia.
Her Approach: Integrative Endocrinology
Dr. Kim built her practice around what she calls an integrative approach to pediatric endocrinology — treating growth and puberty as the product of medical biology, environment, and lifestyle together, not any one of those in isolation.
In practice, that means combining:
- Precision medical treatment — growth hormone therapy, aromatase inhibitors (to help preserve growth potential in later puberty), and GnRH analogs (to safely pause early puberty when height is at risk).
- Environmental awareness — screening for and reducing exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals found in some personal care products and plastics, which can influence the timing of puberty.
- Nutrition and lifestyle — protein, sleep, and activity patterns that support healthy hormone function, particularly during the growth-hormone-heavy hours of deep sleep.
No two children get the same plan. The goal is the same complete picture, built individually every time.
Conditions Commonly Evaluated
Growth Disorders & Short Stature
Not every short or slow-growing child has a medical problem — but some do, and catching it early changes the outcome. Dr. Kim evaluates growth using bone-age X-rays, hormone panels, and growth-chart analysis to distinguish normal variation from growth hormone deficiency and other treatable causes.
Precocious (Early) Puberty
When puberty starts unusually early, the growth plates can close before a child reaches their full height potential. Dr. Kim evaluates the hormonal drivers of early puberty and, when appropriate, uses GnRH analog therapy to safely extend the growth window.
Delayed Puberty & Constitutional Growth Delay
A bone age or puberty delay of less than a year is often entirely normal. A delay of two years or more is a different story, and may point to growth hormone deficiency or another condition that benefits from early treatment rather than a "wait and see" approach.
Thyroid Disease & Type 1 Diabetes
Dr. Kim evaluates and manages pediatric thyroid disorders and Type 1 diabetes as part of comprehensive endocrine care, alongside the growth and puberty work that is her primary focus.
Education & Training
Dr. Kim earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Stony Brook University on a full scholarship, graduating magna cum laude, before staying at Stony Brook for medical school — where pediatric endocrinology became clear to her as a calling.
She completed her pediatric residency at New York Medical College's Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, where she was selected for the honor of Pediatric Chief Resident. She then completed her Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at Children's Hospital Colorado and the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes — a fellowship program at a hospital ranked among the nation's top 10 children's hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
Her career has included clinical roles at Dell Children's Hospital in Austin, TX, and Goryeb Children's Hospital in New Jersey, along with several years on faculty as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College. She relocated to Atlanta in 2018 and founded LIFE Pediatric Endocrinology soon after — built around the individualized model of care she'd spent nearly two decades developing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a pediatric endocrinologist do for growth concerns?
A pediatric endocrinologist evaluates the hormonal, genetic, nutritional, and developmental factors behind a child's growth pattern — using tools like bone-age X-rays and hormone panels — to determine whether a growth difference is a normal variation or a treatable medical condition.
My child's bone age is delayed. Should I be worried?
It depends on the size of the delay. A mild delay of less than a year is often normal. A delay of two years or more raises real concern for growth hormone deficiency and warrants a full evaluation rather than a "wait and see" approach.
What is early (precocious) puberty, and why does it matter for height?
Early puberty triggers the hormonal changes that eventually close a child's growth plates. Starting puberty unusually early can shorten the window for growth, which is why timely evaluation — and treatment when appropriate — matters for final adult height.
Are aromatase inhibitors safe for children?
When used appropriately — in the right candidates, with precision dosing and regular monitoring — aromatase inhibitors are a well-established tool for preserving growth potential in boys in mid-to-late puberty. Dr. Kim determines candidacy individually and monitors bone health and lab values throughout treatment.
Does every child with a growth concern need medication?
No. Some children need nutrition, sleep, and lifestyle changes alone; others benefit from environmental changes, like reducing exposure to certain endocrine-disrupting chemicals; others need medical treatment such as growth hormone therapy. The right plan depends on the underlying cause, which is why evaluation comes before treatment.
Does Dr. Kim see patients outside of Georgia?
Yes. Beyond her in-person hours in Sandy Springs, Dr. Kim sees families by telemedicine and in person across LIFE's network in Texas, Tennessee, Florida, and California, and individually holds telemedicine licensure in roughly 17 states, including New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
